I have changed careers twice after 40. Here is what I know.
At 43 I left CSX and moved to Fanatics. At 46 I left Fanatics and moved to Dun and Bradstreet. Different industries. Different roles. Different challenges. Both times I was told, directly or indirectly, that it was risky, that I was too comfortable to leave, that starting something new at my age was unnecessary.
Both times I did it anyway. And both times it worked.
What I learned from those transitions, and from years of watching other corporate professionals navigate the same crossroads, is that the fear of changing careers at 40 is almost always bigger than the reality of it. The problem is not that it is too late. The problem is that most people do not have a real plan. They have anxiety and a vague wish for something different.
This guide is the plan I wish I had. It takes you step by step through the exact process of figuring out what you want, what you already have to offer, and how to make the move without blowing up your income or your life.
Everything in here is based on what I have actually done and what I have seen work for the professionals I have coached. Nothing is theory. Nothing is motivation for the sake of motivation. Just a clear honest roadmap.
